Tourist Attractions
This map of Tourist attractions offers many places to hang out and have fun. The Rum Story is a unique tourist attraction in Cumbria. It is a gift shop, but also much more than that. Inside you will find history and information about the production of rum. The walls are covered with shelves full of bottles, t-shirts, souvenirs, and books with information about this famous island drink.
They are not just selling t-shirts, though: The Rum Story will also give you a free rum tasting. The story behind that is fascinating. They had the idea of providing free tastings to all their visitors to learn more about this drink.
There are more than 3200 bottles on display at The Rum Story from all over the world. Every bottle has a small description telling you something about its history. You can try some of the rums at the end of the tour and compare them with your favourite one. But you will also see t-shirts, hats, books and souvenirs with different shapes, sizes and colours.
Tinside Lido is another example of a Victorian seaside resort in the UK. The Lido was opened by Princess Beatrice, daughter of Queen Victoria, on 15th July 1900.
Leeds Castle is located in Kent. It has been owned by various families, including Roman Emperors and the Wyckenoth Popham family, which is now run as a tourist attraction.
After stepping through the door of the castle, you are greeted with a medieval feast prepared by the people who live there to make your visit memorable. There are also the famous Leeds Castle Tours that will take you around the castle for a fee.
The Butser Ancient Farm is a tourist attraction located near Chichester in West Sussex, England.
The farm is situated on chalk downland, which means it has the most significant concentration of prehistoric and Roman remains in the UK.
One of the main attractions at Butser Ancient Farm is the Giant's Walk which is around 800 meters long and consists of 10 giant skips. Each skip is about 4.5 meters long and can fit three adults. The giant skips were dug out of the chalk using the technique of gully erosion approximately 5,000 years ago.
The site was used for many different things over thousands of years, including a burial ground, farming area, and even a theatre where Romans would watch gladiator battles and animal fights.
Butser Ancient Farm also hosts several events throughout the year, including the Butser Hill Challenge, a 10k running race up to the top of Butser Hill. It is then followed by a trip back down using the giant skips.
The Bishop Rock, in the Scilly Isles, is a huge rock that is part of one of the biggest and oldest glacial erratics. It was thought to be 16,000 years old but is now generally believed to be older than that. To visit Bishop Rock, you can take the five-mile boat ride from Land's End, or as an alternative, there are helicopter flights from Penzance.
People visit Scilly's main reason is the lovely beaches, which make it ideal for swimming and sunbathing. There are 15 inhabited islands (Tresco) and many others, including Bishop Rock, where people can stay overnight in five hotels.
